Virtual Production Discovery Days by 80six aims to facilitate open conversations about the technology powering virtual production in a casual set-up. The expert team of video system integrators and virtual production technology specialists at 80six will share their expertise on designing, installing, and deploying custom-built LED Volumes at their studios or on location in soon-to-be-launched film & TV productions by Netflix, DNEG, Shutterstock, BBC One and CBS.
Employing the latest virtual production technology available on the market and 80six’s unique working experience in this emerging field, VFXhouses, Film& tv production companies, Content Providers and Post-Production Houses have the chance to experience live and on-set the gear and virtual production workflow required for shooting a car scene on a large-scale LED Volume.

Virtual Production Studios by 80six houses a 5000 sq ft virtual production facility, including an 18m x 4.5m ROE Visual DM2 curved LED Volume, plus some of the most advanced real-time technologies, enabling the delivery of all technical aspects of productions using virtual production.
Virtual production works by combining several existing technologies in perfect synchrony: LED screens, camera tracking, video processing, media servers and game engines – it’s projection at a new level. By projecting on a LED Volume, creators can bring to life any type of environment - real or virtual, from the inside of 80six’s studio.

During the interactive demo, participants will have a hands-on experience of LED projection on a 18m x 4.5m curved LED Volume and will understand how LED screens are used for in-camera VFX when shooting car scenes, either with backplates shot on-location or by creating a unique virtual environment in Unreal Engine.
The technology making this virtual production workflow possible also includes Disguise media servers, Brompton Technology LED processing and a Mo-sys StarTracker.
Supporting and present at the event are representatives from leading virtual production manufacturers and suppliers including ROE Visual, Brompton Technology, Mo-sys Engineering, Cooke Optics, 3LR lighting who will further offer their expertise on the technologies making virtual production possible.
