80six will showcase innovative in-camera VFX solutions for driving shoots at the Media Production & Technology Show.
Shoot around the world without starting the engine using the power of in-camera visual effects (ICVFX)
Media Production & Technology Show, the UK's largest tradeshow for the production community, returns on May 10-11 at Olympia London, bringing together the newest technologies and the industry experts shaping the future of content production. For the second year, 80six is one of the show’s platinum sponsors leading the virtual production offering at the show by displaying the largest LED Volume ever built on the premises.
Partnering with the fantastic teams at Lexhag VFX, Brompton Technology and disguise, we will showcase innovative ICVFX solutions for shooting driving scenes in real or virtual locations by integrating a 12.5m x 3.5m LED car processing stage powered by the award-winning virtual production technologies available at our studio.

Visiting the Virtual Production by 80six stand, attendees will experience the various workflows for delivering driving scenes using multiple methods of content display for LED screens, from 2D plates to 3D environments created in Unreal Engine to AI-generated 2.5D backgrounds using NeRF (Neural Radiance Fields), a new technology that visualizes three-dimensional scenes from still photography or CGI renders.
Shooting LED virtual production offers numerous advantages over green screen and location shooting, particularly for car shoots. As cars usually have many reflective surfaces, including the body, glass and mirrors, LED virtual production allows us to capture realistic reflections on the car's surfaces and cast natural shadows and lighting across the talents' faces while giving creators complete control over the environment.
"Using ICVFX, you bring the environment to the vehicle. We have successfully delivered multiple vehicle shoots at our studio, achieving life-like results more efficiently compared to a green screen stage. Reflections on the vehicle's surfaces and actors' faces are captured in-camera, in real-time, saving the time and costs of adding these in post. It also gives the DOP more creative input and control over the final image.
Our priority now is exploring alternative solutions for delivering photorealistic content to screens. At MPTS, we're excited to showcase some of our latest R&D work with Lexhag VFX that uses generative AI to create photoreal backgrounds. This could be a game-changer for our clients as it promises enhanced realism, with complete freedom of movement within the scene, while cutting delivery times and most importantly, costs”.
